Actually, We're Getting Two New Sushi Places

We found out last night that the high end Sushi joint we've been talking about for a while is now scheduled to open in November, but it's not the one that's being opened up in the DiVino spot! The building that will house hot young Upper Queen Anne restaurateur's latest venture is just down the street, the one under construction next to Cugini. (Sorry Ballardite, you don't have it right and neither do you MyBallard....I'll let you know who it is as soon as I get the okay to go public with names.)

The BGG also found out about Shiku yesterday but decided not to plug them since we are particularly fond of the hot young QA chef and his current joint. Really, if we can be picky, and I think we can, we'd rather not publicize his competitors. So, while we have been starved for sushi in this hood for a while, it looks like we're going to see some serious competition.

DOOOHHH! Notice that I did hedge my bets and admit that all the pieces don't add up and that you might have been talking about a different place with two sushi joints opening on Ballard Ave ... :-)

When are you going to name names on the November opening?

Surprise!! The new sushi bar Shiku is AWESOME!!!! I would call it sexy sushi! The menu is varied and everything I tried was delicious. The Lychee Martini also went nicely with the fresh sushi. The atmosphere is elegant and alive. They even have special Japanese toilets with heated seats and a bidet function. Sorry, Moshi Moshi, but my bet is with Shiku!

Can't say I agree with your thoughts on Shiku. I wasn't too impressed, it felt like they're trying to cater too much to our resident condo overlords and their Belltown hipster friends... The fish was decent but I didn't feel like it was all that creative. I guess what really did it was the sushi chef text messaging as he was making the food. A good multitasker no doubt, but no thanks...

More restaurants should also open up to provide other choices.
