Curtains for Zayda Buddy's?

We heard a rumor that Zayda Buddy's will be closing it's doors soon. Is Ballard not willing to shell out for swilly Midwest beer and greasy hot dish? Or is it just a smear campaign by neighboring restaurateurs?

Update: According to an intrepid reader, someone there told them that no, they aren't shutting down. Well, in this case, it really is just another neighborhood land owner/restaurateur bad mouthing them. Boo! Shame on him. Sounds like this dish was not so delish if you get my drift.

We also heard that Monkey Bridge has been closed recently at odd times like 6 p.m. on Thursday. What's up with that?

Update: And the MB is fine, so go get some Pho!

Zadya Buddy's I could care less about. They managed to destroy all of the very large amount of good will and leeway I give a restaurant on opening week so much that I still haven't been back, but Monkey Bridge was a competent little place with good food.

Maybe they ran out of too much food? Please let that be it... A good rush from the hospital and construction site could tax any restaurant..... or a private party, death in the family....

Zadya Buddy's: Dumb name, bad food, very poor service. Not a surprise.

Monkey Bridge closed early due to a small kitchen fire that was quite smoky. No harm, no foul, they are doing fine.

We never ate at Zayda Buddy's, but when I read that they allowed that nasty processed Velveeta "cheese" on the premises, there was no way I was going to set foot in the place. And their beer list didn't impress me, which might have given them a slight chance, at least with me.

But it's a great location, so if they really do fail, another restaurant will step up to the plate. Although eating dinner right next door to Ballard Hospital's former Business Health Link (where thousands of local fishermen left samples of their urine for drug testing) doesn't sound terribly appetizing.

After reading this I stopped in and asked and was told unequivocally no, they aren't shutting down, they're doing great. Take it as you will.

Zayda Buddy's has great beer and burgers. It is nice that a little blue collar has returned to Ballard. Ballard is/was the best community in Seattle until the Yuppie scum came and destroyed it. Go back to Fremont and Wallingford and take those crappy sculpture from Bergen Square with you. Zayda Buddies is a great return to what ballard was.

Zadya Buddy's is the best place in Ballard and for those of you urbanite locals who think your center of the universe is the best thing since sliced bread; you're too arrogantly provincial to understand what you're missing!

If you're either from the Midwest originally or not from the northwest as well, then you'd be very happy to find a place that does thin crust pizza with cheese shipped in from Wisconsin properly unlike most of the rest of the pizza places around here. Add a couple of Blatz, or Grain Belt beers with it an you're getting a break from the same old northwest "aren't we special, aren't we the best, pay through the nose" subpar tasteless food supplier warehouse fare.

Good place, good atmosphere, good food, good non local beers that are hard to find around here (they even have Anchor Steam on tap) and an all day and late night happy hour as well.

So you locals that are too narrow minded to expand your horizons then not going there is your loss.
